Passwords

When editing any of the password controls within the INI files, there are a several important things that you will need to remember:

• All passwords are case sensitive, except for logon passwords if the CaseSensitivePasswords key is set to No.

• Prefix a password with "-" and WorldClient Pro will encrypt it the next time that the password is authenticated, and write it back to the INI file in the encrypted form.

• Prefixing a WorldClient Pro user's logon password in their INI file with "\" means that it is an NT password that needs authentication. Type a "\" by itself and WorldClient Pro will authenticate to the local machine. Type "\" followed by an NT domain name and WorldClient Pro will authenticate to the domain specified. Type "\NT_ANY" and WorldClient Pro will authenticate to all locally accessible NT Domains. These may only be used in the "Password" key located in the User section of the User.ini file.

• If the first character in the user's WorldClient Pro logon is a "*" then WorldClient Pro will use LDAP authentication. This value is set in the "Password" key in the User section of the User.ini file. It may only be used in that key.

• If the value of the "Pass" key in the MailHost[#] section of the User.ini file starts with "\" (e.g. "\DOMAIN"), WorldClient will send the password that the user entered when logging in to their WorldClient account. This is the user's POP Password and only applies to that key.

• If a password is entered without one of these prefixes then WorldClient Pro will assume that it is an encrypted password and attempt to decrypt it.
